What to Pack for a Kite Safari

The most important thing to bring is a great positive mood! What to leave at home: urges for political debates and excessive hard partying. Everything else is listed below:

  • In November-April, we recommend a long wetsuit (3-4 mm); in September, October, and May – a shorty (2-3 mm); in summer – no wetsuit is needed.
  • Lycra (Rashguard) is essential – it helps you ride comfortably and protects your arms from sunburn (wear it under a shorty wetsuit for extra protection).
  • If you are a beginner or walk a lot with the kite – water shoes are a "must-have" (diving boots or simple coral shoes).
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses (simple ones will do), as the sun is very bright; a buff/bandana can also be very useful.
  • Sports medical insurance is mandatory; ensure it covers active sports risks (Windsurfing, Surfing, Kitesurfing).
Couples kitesurfing together

Do I Need a Visa for Egypt?

Yes. A visa is required, but it is easily obtained upon arrival directly at Hurghada Airport. It costs $25 (please bring this amount in cash). It's quick and easy – you land, buy the visa sticker, they paste it into your passport, and that's it :-) Visa obtained.

Recently, electronic visas have also become available - E-VISA Egypt. This is slightly faster, as you won't need to buy anything upon arrival or paste it into your passport (saving clean pages if you travel a lot).
